Spooner, Prudence (b. , d. 20 Dec 1754)
Note: There were Spooners in Milwich by 1577. They seem to have left early in the +
18th century. The family, or some of them, may have moved to Colton. The last +
Spooner entry in the Milwich registers is the marriage on 31 Dec 1730 of John +
Reeves and Alice Spooner, both of "Coulton"; and there is a 15 Jan 1708 burial +
of John Spooner of Coton Mill. (Randle Knight once told me that he thought the +
Spooners may have been millers at Milwich.)
Since Spooner is not a Lapley name (Prudence is the only example in the +
registers), it seems probable that she was the Prudence who was baptised at +
Milwich on 20 Jan 1677/8, a daughter of John & Margaret Spooner.

Note: His marriage is the only reference to any Kent in the Lapley printed register, +
so it is unlikely he came from there. An Edward, son of Walter Kent, was +
christened on 8 Apr 1739 at Acton Trussell & Bednall. A Walter Kent, milner, +
married an Anne Bate at Bednall/Acton Trussell on 22 Jan 1760, by licence. +
Presumably, milner = miller. Randle Knight thinks the Milwich Spooners were +
millers. Is there a connection?
The IGI shows children of Edward & Margaret Kent being christened at Trysull: +
John on 18 Sep 1747, and Sarah on 16 Mar 1750. Also at Trysull, Margaret +
daughter of Edward & Mary Kent is shown as being christened on 3 Nov 1753. At +
Kingswinford, Eliz. daughter of Edwd. & Margt, is shown as being christened on +
29 Apr 1759.
